External Data Column value in order to set a Calculated Value Control formula

Hi,

I just started a new form on a list which contains an external data field.

I'd like to set a calculated value based on the value typed in the external data control. But in the formula builder, my "MyExternalData" named control does not appear... In fact, it does not appear in any formula builder (form variable, validation rules ...).

Is there anyone who has ever found a workaround?

Unfortunalety, no.
It was part of a training I was giving. I had to content myself to explain that it's by design...

Still hope a workaround or a fix

Hi Pierre,

I just saw this and was wondering, is there a way to expose the value in a workflow? Not sure if there is a solurtion in this but I had recently looked over a solution by Vadim Tabakman‌ where you can start a workflow from a form and keep the form open to wait for a result (linked below). Let us know if this has a workaround hidden in it.
