Symptoms
The following error (or similar) is seen in Visual Studio 2013 when trying to deploy a workflow:
Error 1 Error occurred during XML Mapping:SmartObject Server Exception: Error refreshing Service Instance 'WorkflowReportingService'. Service returned : 'Workflow Reporting SO Service: [K2 Project Name][K2 Process name] could not be found.
Diagnoses
This can sometimes be attributed to a configuration issue upon deployment regarding the connection strings defined for the workflow server and what K2 server they are pointed at vs which environment the client tools install is pointing at.
Resolution
In the case it is a connection string problem, double check the default environment library for the server you have pointed the deployment to. For instance, if you are deploying to the Staging environment, and your default environment library is the "development" template, navigate to the template inside the Workspace Management Console under the Environment Library node and double check the connection strings defined for the Workflow Server and Smartobject Server fields in the "development" environment template. The host name/farm name for the K2 environment you are deploying to needs to be the same for these fields as it is for the primary server connection string inside the thick client designer you are using.
