I'm working on SharePoint 2013 platform where there are several sites and site collections in our farm. Many departments are cross-functional and use the same data. Instead of duplicating the process, we would like to copy a few fields that are currently captured in an existing SharePoint list which is located in a different site collection and copy it to our site. How would this be created?
While the workflow may be limited in pulling the different list from one site to the next, you can still use a workflow to coordinate and orchestrate the process of copying. You can query the information you want to copy and then use a web service call to create a new item in the new site collection. Without building it out myself, I think this is something that is doable and easy with Nintex.
