i am facing an issue while opening workflow history for my sharepoint 2010 site
error is An unexpected error has occurred in nintex workflow

Did you manage to sort out the issue?
Seems your user don't have the sufficient permission to access the Nintex content DB.
Make sure the user has 'Contribute' permissions in SharePoint. You need to go to all of the logs (including ULS logs) on the server to check for any other messages that may help troubleshoot the problem. Could SQL Server possibly have gone down for a second when you were trying to access the workflow history?
