I have version enabled on my library, I want to be able to capture the version number of the item.

The process is as follows

The user opens the document template, fills it out and saves it.

Once it gets saved in the library other users will make modifications.

With each modification the version number will change.

I want the version number to populate in the word document somehow once the user saves the template back into the library. I am familiar with inserting document properties in the word template. However I need a way to be able to capture the version number so I can get it on the word document.

Does anyone have suggestions?

We are on SP 2013.

Thanks!

Rency
