We have SharePoint 2016 Min Role Farm & Nintex Workflow  2016 installed on Application Server as Min Role was not supported before. Now we have purchased Nintex  2016 License and applied from central admin (APP Server) but now it is showing that it is applied to Front End Server. We are getting below error:

Error:This server is not licensed. Server name is: 'SERVERNAME-APP'. Please send a screenshot of this licensing page and a screenshot of the 'System Settings > Manage servers in this farm' page to sales@nintex.com to ensure you are accurately licensed. You will be unable to publish, edit or start Nintex Workflows

Hello,

all web frontends have to be licensed with a dedicated license. In some cases it is required that you also add the APP servers to your licence to make some things running, like if you have your central admin on an app server.

In this case you should get in contact with your Nintex Partner and tell them all server names of your farm and whether it is a web frontend or app server. They can get in touch with Nintex to give you the correct licenses.

Kind regards,

Enrico

Hello Enrico,

Thanks for your reply. By default after applying Full license it has applied to WFE server not with APP server where we have installed Nintex 2016. It was working when we reapply 2nd trial license which by default targed to APP Server. Now all workflows are stop in state. Do we require license for all Servers ? As we are having Min-role farm and single server of each role.

Good morning!

Well this question has two answers.

Do you need to license (pay) all servers?

No, only web frontend servers need a purchased license, as by default they're the only ones running Nintex activities.

Do all servers need to be licensed?

Yes, your license (file) needs to include all server names that execute Nintex stuff. It seems that in your constellation of your min role farm the app server executes Nintex stuff and therefore yields it needs a license info.

In this matter, only Nintex or your Nintex partner can help you.

Kind regards,

Enrico

Hello Enrico,

Thanks for your suggestions !!

We have received new license which include APP and  WFE server and I have applied the the same . Now Nintex is working fine.

One query do I have to ask to include "Search and Distributed Cache server" name in new license file? In License file only APP and WFE servers are included.

Hello,

glad to hear it's working now.

I don't think you will have to add the cache server to your license as it is not executing any workflow actions.

You should be fine with your current configuration.

Could you please mark the thread as anwered to others can see it's resolved?

Kind regards,

Enrico
