Symptoms


K2 app cannot send emails after approvals of request.
Errors seen in K2 Management error profiles for a given workflow:

"The email address : Approved, is invalid"



 

Diagnoses


The error that is seen is due to a design issue that passes a value from a metadata field of the referenced list. The workflow loops back around starting at a user task step that sends an email once all approvers have actioned the task. The metadata field in question typically has email addresses as entries, but is changed to the string "Approved" once all approvers have action the task. The email event is populating the "To:" field with this metadata, causing the error after approval.
 

Resolution

Reassessment of the design of the workflow will be performed by the designer so the "Approved" string is not passed into the email event.
