Hi,

Does anyone know if its possible to change the names of files that are contained within a document set?

If its possible can anyone say how to do it?

Thanks Chris

Hi Chris,

afaik a file in a document set is quite the same as every other file in SharePoint. Therefore you can edit the item and change name of the file and the title of the item. Nothing special about that.

If you need to do it by workflow, the "update multiple items" action provides more possibilities and could be helpful (of course you can just update one item with it)

If that doesn't answer your question, please clarify your requirement.

We need to rename the files from a workflow that's running on the document set itself. It doesn't seem as though there's anyway of accessing the individual files and renaming them.

Hey Chris,

thanks for the update. One idea would be to check the files URL. The URL to one document in a document set always includes the name of the document set itself (just like with folders). So in your workflow the name of the current item would be the document set name. You can then loop through all items of your library and check if they include this name in their url. This way you COULD be able to query all documents of this one specific document set.
