Update Document - Error - Expression must evaluate to a node-set.

Hello Everyone,

I have a requirement that that updates a "Published Date" field that is part of a Content Type and part of the Document Information Panel (DIP).

We currently have a WF that sends out and Email when a user "Publishes" a document, the WF runs only if the Version of the document end in .0.

The user is responsible for making sure that they update the "Published Date" before the "Publish" their documents but most of them forget to do this step.

I wanted to work this step into my WF.  Using SharePoint 2013, Nintex Workflows 2013

I added the "Update Document" Action into my WF.

Source: Current Item

Content Control Title: Published Date

Value: Current Date

I also tired a Variable that was set up to today's date.

Preserve Formatting Checked

Output: Current Item

This Document Library has Check In/Out enabled .

When I ran the WF I received the Following Error message:

Error updating document. Expression must evaluate to a node-set.

Any ideas on what this message means?

Re: Update Document - Error - Expression must evaluate to a node-set.

Hi Melissa,

This is just a stab in the dark but I think the issue may be with the condition that is being used to start the workflow.

The reason I say this is the error is talking about an expression which I am guessing is the conditional start expression.

If you remove the conditional start and then test again does the workflow work?
