For a long time now, after applying monthly Microsoft patches, the psconfig command goes very quickly on the web and app Sharepoint 2016 servers. However, on the cache and search servers it hangs for nearly an hour, and during that time a lot of errors such as this are generated in ULS:
TypeLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'Nintex.Workflow, Version=22.214.171.124, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=913f6bae0ca5ae12' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
It just keeps cycling through scanning for a bunch of Nintex related files and failing to find them. Remember, we are not licensed for Nintex on these servers and have not installed it on them. However, I see there are two services on those servers, Nintex Connector Workflow Queue Service and Nintex Workflow Start service, both of which are Automatic but not running when I check them after issuing the psconfig command.
Has this happened to anyone else? It's very frustrating, especially when waiting to finish patching after hours.
