Difference b/w Active and Running Process

I shown in K2 Service Manager, Process Manager

Status is Active, Running what is difference between these two

ACTIVE means that K2.net Server has created all the necessary objects, executed all the necessary code and done everything it needs to do with the specific process instance. The process instance is probably at a stage waiting for user input through a client event.

RUNNING on the other hand means that K2.net Server are still busy executing code, waiting for some other system input (as opposed to human input) or were unable to create the necessary objects because of some failure somewhere else. A good example of this would be for instance if the code in a Default Server Event ended up in an endless loop.
