We have a form which will be used to kick off a Create Site Workflow using Nintex Workflows. Rather than waiting for the workflow to validate whether the URL exists already or not, a better solution would be to have the form validate that the URL exists or does not. I can see a scenario where we would want to validate that the parent site exists but the requested subsite does not. I started a solution where a calculated field is used to generate both the parent and site URL extension but not sure how to validate that it exists using a rule or some custom code. Any ideas?
I am working on two possible approaches: 1. Use the page viewer control somehow to pre-view the URL. If the page viewer works, the hyperlink to the URL must be valid. 2. check to see if hyperlink is visited. Visited hyperlinks generally change color to indicate the page has been visited. That would be an indication that the URL hyperlink was succesful.
