Resolution

If you are using SharePoint online then Event Receivers will only work with a purchased certificate, and your K2 environment URL/end point needs to be accessible by SharePoint Online.
Check out http://help.k2.com/KB001443 and view the Certificate and Port Requirements at the bottom of the article.

Errors associated with SharePoint Online remote event receivers, including invalid certificates, may take up to 24 hours to appear in the SharePoint Online logs (if at all).
As per docs:
K2 highly recommends using a certificate issued by a Certificate Authority (CA) that is trusted by Windows. The list of trusted CAs can be found here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/14215.windows-and-windows-phone-8-ssl-root-certificate-program-member-cas.aspx.
SharePoint Online requires that the certificate associated with SharePoint remote event receiver endpoint in K2 (https://{K2WebSite}/SP15EventService/RemoteEventService.svc) be issued by a CA that is trusted by Windows.
