The answer in my local support on this related topics,

"Strategically, K2 will align with all Microsoft product including Visual Studio 2008. K2 [blackpearl] is now fully integrated with Visual Studio 2005 officially. We will deliver the K2 [blackpearl] studio utilizing the Visual Studio 2008 after it is launched (in 2-3 months). Actually, our lab team is standardizing to VS2008 in this month. We are all looking forwards for the new Visual Studio 2008 with the .Net framework 3.0 and will announce it once the integration with Visual Studio 2008 is ready."

My understanding is that VS2008 support is slated for SP2, which will probably come out Q3...

had been using vs2008 for the web UI, but the smart object and workflow still using vs2005. Work pretty fine.
