Using DataFields with Escalations

I have been trying to use a datafield to determine the time and date at which an escalation should take place. My reason for this is because I need an activity which is three activities after the start point, to escalate 48 hours after the process has been started. I have been running simple tests to see if if can simply escalate 5 minutes later. All goes well in setting up the escalation and the value for the escalated date, but I do not receive any emails for my email escalation.

Any help will be much appreciated.
