No such Host is known

I've been banging my head against this one for a couple of hours so I thought I'd share my pain and see if anyone has a solution.

I have a process that works in development that's not working in a staging environment.  The process uses a client event to request approval and sends email with the resulting status.  The destination user and to addresses are specified as K2:mydomainmyaccount.  When I run the process it's hung on the mail event.

Running in console mode, I can see the error: No Such Host Is known.

 In the Error Profile, I can see:Value cannot be null. Parameter name: address

 

If I specify the user as myaccount@mydomain.com, the process and email work correctly (albeit not using the preferred email address because K2 doesn't do the AD lookup in the mail event unless the to address contains both a ":" and a "")

My best guess is that there's something not quite right with AD or K2's querying.   Does anyone have any ideas on what I should be checking into?

Have you tried setting the "To:" address to the actual email address property of the user?


In the User Browser, expand the K2 security label, find and expand the user.  You should be able to select the Email property of that user.


The variable shown in the wizard should look like:



K2:mydomainmyaccount.Email

Thank for the suggestion, but we're determining users dynamically right now, pulling the account names from a SmartObject to determine destination users.  The solution works in my virtual environment, but it's not functioning in the other environment.  One big difference between the environments is that the AD is the non-functioning environment is only Win2k and not Win2k3 like the virtual environment.

More information:

When users are specified as DomainUserName (no K2 label), K2 notifications work, but mail events fail because the string isn't in the format of an email address.
