Just had something happen with a server that might crop up for others, hence this posting...
If the K2 database user's password (specified in the K2 server config file) expires, the K2 service will correctly recognise that, but it will not recover once the password has been reset (even if set back to the same password again).
You have to stop and start the K2 server service before the Service Manager will let you connect again.

This makes sense (to me at least) - you wouldn't want K2 to have to validate the account's credentials each time it had to access the database...that would be too slow and painful for perfroamace. Instead, it should validate the credentials only once (during startup).
(For those readers who are wondering, this only applies to use of Windows Integrated Authetication (WIA), not SQL Authentication.)
