Startform isn't shown if workflow is started automatically

Nintex Workflow for SharePoint 2013

Startform Standard

Hi Nintex-Community,

I created a workflow in a document library. It is meant to force users to give additional information to the last checked in version of a file. Therefore the user is asked to input 2 values in the startform (which is standard).

Starting the workflow manually the Startform is shown and values are are added to the list as expected. Starting the Workflow automatically by "element changed condition" the startform isn't shown, so values can't be provided by user.

BTW: There are conditions defined making sure, that the workflow does not start itself and only when Version/ comment has been changed.

Nevertheless the Workflow is running through, but of course values entered are empty.

So the question is: How to make sure that the form is shown, even when the workflow is started automatically?

Any feedback would be highly appreciated!

Best regards,

Sindy

Hi Sindy,

I'm afraid the start form only appears if the workflow is started manually, not automatically.  When they start automatically we can't be sure a person is there to answer any questions.  You may need to re-think how the workflow is constructed so you can have those two questions answered before the workflow starts.

e.g. when they check in the document, still have your workflow start automatically and have an action that sends them a task/get data to supply the two answers.

Cheers,

Hi Chris,

many thanks for the fast reply!

So, another idea of min would be to manipulate the check-in form (where main version/draft is chosen and the comment is entered) by adding two more field to enter the information needed.

Would this be possible? E.g. by means of JavaScript?

Best regards,

Sindy

Hi Sindy, I don't think there's a method of using Nintex forms to modify the check-in form, only the document properties form.

Cheers,

Chris
