Auto incremental column workflow

Hi

I'm trying to set up an auto incremental workflow so that when the number of items in a SharePoint list hits 5 an email is generated. I'm following this: https://www.habaneroconsulting.com/insights/Nintex-Workflows-makes-it-easy-to-create-an-auto-incrementing-column-in-SharePoint#.WSf26U32aUm

I've set up a separate list called Auto Incremental for the functionality. However when I get to stage 4 on the Set field value action.   Nintex isn't seeing the Auto Incremental list or the Task # column. What am I doing wrong?

as you might have read on the page you linked, the approach depicted there is not reliable.

imho, you do not need any 'master' list or autoincrement numbering for what you want to accomplish at all.

you can simply use query list action on list itself to determine how many items it currently contains.
