Concept of parking a workitem

We are looking at the user being able to ‘park’ a workitem in K2 workflow. A typical scenario would be a ‘Confirm Customer Document Received’ activity where the user is tasked with moving the workitem on only upon the arrival of a customer’s document. Until then the user should be able to 'park' the workitem and select a reason for doing so. Importantly by parking we want the user to be able stop the SLA clock for that workitem. Are there any OOTB capabilities within K2 workflow for this?

When the user needs to park an item, couldn't you use an action/outcome to send them to another activity containing a client event?  Whe you say 'SLA', I am guessing you mean you have an escalation on the initial client event.  By moving it to another activity, the escalation on the initial event would no longer be relevant.
