I was wondering if there anyway to dynamically build a group name as a string then send and email to that group and update a list item (of the user/groups types).
This doesnt seem to work for either the email or the list item updates.
Any ideas?

Did you try using a repeating field containing user names as destination and assign that as destination to send email.
