In Word, the row isn't showing data, just the merge field tag

I've attached a screenshot of the table from the template I am populating with rows from Salesforce. I've also attached a screenshot of the output file with some sample data.  You can see in the template in the "Menge" and "Nettopreis" columns that the tag is the same in both columns - but it is not populating in the "Menge" column - just showing the tag "<<Opportunity_LineItem_UOM_German>>." 
(To ward off the questions: No there are differences in spaces. I copy and pasted ">>/  <<Opportunity_LineItem_UOM_German>>" from the "Nettorpreis" column where it is populating correctly. )

What am I doing wrong?  Why is the "Menge" column not populating with the value?

@hsampier not sure if you got this resolved but if you notice in your screenshot there are 2 blue underlines next to the tags.  If you right-click and clear the warning that should fix your problem.

Oh! I did resolve this (I don't remember now what the problem was...)
I apologize that I forgot to remove this issue.
