Open Excel Hyperlink in Excel vs Download on Mac

I have workflow with two consecutive approval tasks:

  1. In Approval Task 1, the approver attaches an Excel.
  2. In Approval Task 2, the approver must open that Excel and edit it.

So - after Approval Task 1, my workflow:

  1. Queries the address and name of the Approval Task 1 attachment.
  2. Creates a hyperlink to that attachment (from the address and name returned above).
  3. Adds that hyperlink to Approval Task 2

This all works correctly for folks accessing Approval Task 2 on Win 10, as long as they are using Edge: when they click the link to the attachment, it opens in Excel and they are able to edit the document.

The problem I am having is for folks accessing Approval Task 2 on Mac using Edge (or Chrome): when they click the link to the Excel, it downloads (and therefore any changes made won’t reflect in the online version of the Excel).

So my question is: for Mac users, is there a way to get a linked Excel to open either in desktop or online Excel, as opposed to downloading?

HI,

This is more a Mac issue than a Nintex issue but I Googled and it looks like this is a limitation on the Mac.

Understood - thanks for looking into this Simon.
