Create item to create Excel Files

Hi, I need to create new excel documents on a new item creation in a list. I'm trying to using the "Create Item" action to create an Excel document in document library. The excel template is associated with a custom content type. This content type is specified while configuring the action. However, every time a word document is only created in the document library. Does "Create ITem" only support Word files?

Unfortunately Create Item action does not work for multiple document types when using a content type; it only works for the document type that was used as a template when creating the document library.


When you create a document library if you choose the Excel document template, the workflow creates the document successfully with an Excel format for the content type. If you create a document library and choose the Word document template, the workflow creates the document successfully when using a Word document for the content type. If you try to use any other document in the content type other than what the document library template is using, the workflow will create the file as whatever file type the document library template is.
