How do you manage deployment of SharePoint processes to other Environments?

I understand the use of Environments, but here's the issue.

Let's say you have 3 different SharePoint environments as follows:

  • Dev: mossdev.domain.com
  • QA: mossqa.domain.com
  • Prod: moss.domain.com

When you build the SharePoint SmartObjects for a List using the OTB K2 wizards in Dev, they show up in the Object Browser with the following format:

  • SmartObject Server

    • mossdev.domain.com

      • site collection

        • List

          • (etc... Methods)

In this scenario, how do you package the process and have it swap out the "SharePoint's Web Application Name"?

Our goal is to have a separate team complete the deployment of the developed process and provide governance over who can change QA and Production Environments without having to re-touch the developed process for each environment.  Otherwise, this defeats the whole purpose of testing.
