Attempting to auto increment a number

Jump to solution

I'm using this page as a guide to auto increment a number in a listL https://habaneroconsulting.com/insights/Nintex-Workflows-makes-it-easy-to-create-an-auto-incrementin...

I've followed the whole thing, but I can't publish the workflow as I get this error:

Error publishing workflow. Value selected for parameter: 'First operand' of activity: 'Increment the Next number' is an incompatible data type. If the problem persists, contact Nintex support, and quote:

The next number is stored in a number type column so I don't know why it's complaining about it.

My "Do Calculation" looks exactly the same idea.

I'm not sure what else to do.

Ideas?

Hi,

Have you tried using Integer as the data type rather than number?

Thanks Jason.

I figured out why it wasn't working but it wasn't a difference between number and integer but you pointed me in the right direction.

It was because the initial variable in the first query was being created as a collection variable automatically and not a number. I changed the output type to separate output per column and it allowed to create as a number and it worked.

Thanks again.
