How to configure Private Queues for K2 Blackpearl installation.


MSMQ Directory Service Integration is a requirement for K2 Blackpearl installation. In a rare event when it is not possible to use Public Queues, you can change it to use Private Queues after the installation.


Creating Private Queues.


1. Open Windows Server Manager.

2. Expand features.

3. Message Queuing.

4. Right Click on Private Queues.

5. New > Private Queue.




6. Input a name. For the example I’m using the same as the Public Queue 'eventbus'.

7. Check the transactional box. 



8. Click Ok.

9. Add a new Private Queue, repeat steps 4 to 5.

10. Change the name to 'eventbus error'.



11. Click Ok.

12. You will have something like this:



13. Right-click on the 'Eventbus' Private Queue and select Properties

14. Go to the Security Tab and add the users with full control. This will depend on the environment and the accounts you have. But at least add SYSTEM, NETWORK SERVICE, SELF, K2 Service Account.

15. Repeat steps 16 and 17 for the 'Eventbus error' Private Queue.

16. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\K2 blackpearl\Host Server\Bin or the directory where K2 BlackPearl is installed.

17. Edit the file  K2HostServer.exe.config.



18. And replace the value.



With the names of the newly created Private Queues. To check the names of the Private Queues simply right-click on the Private Queue and select properties:





Note the private$ before the name.

Save the File and close it.

Save and close the file.

Restart K2 Service and the Message Queuing Service.
