Updated

The SMTP Mail Server setting specified during K2.net installation is stored in the K2Server.config file found in your [K2.net Installation Folder]in. If you have installed K2.net into the default location, you should be able to find the file in C:Program FilesK2.net 2003in.

The Registry is no longer used for maintaining the SMTP Server setting.

In K2Server.config, you should find something like <DefaultSMTPServer Server="mail.k2mega.local" />. Edit this tag accordingly and re-start K2.net Server.

The SMTP Server setting specified during the installation does not affect the Server mail event.

Selecting Use Default in the Server Mail event will only work if a valid SMTP Server is installed on the same machine as K2.net 2003 Server, if this is not the case you have the option to specify another machine on the network that has a SMTP Server configured.

Which one is preferred?
Changing the MailServer setting in the registry or updating the K2Server.Config file's DefaultSMTPServer's Server attribute.
<DefaultSMTPServer Server="" />
Please advice.

Please change the setting in the configuration file.
This is where K2 Server picks up the default mail server details.
