in a smart object i have a field employee name . i cannot find a data type (like people picker in sharepoint ) that will auto fill the field when i load a form using this smart object field . According to the k2 five course this is possible

You can use a picker control on a item view and populate it using your smartobject data. You can then call the view into a form.
