Hi!
I'm not entierly sure on what you are trying to do. But if it is that you want to fill a process datafield from a smartobject datasource you could use the Set Variable activity. And if you want to chain them in longer expressions you could use the functions as in the old designer. And in 5.3 there is a function to create if-statements in the functions which is very useful.
