Adding Fields to AD User SmartObject

Our company has a field in AD called Direct Reports that shows all employees who work directly under the selected employee. We would like to access this field in K2, but we've been unable to determine how to add it to our custom AD User SmartObject. A colleague wrenched in the field to the SmartObject, but we can't seem to add the new field to the GetUserDetails method mapping. Any help on adding additional fields to an AD SmartObject and/or creating a new service instance that would connect to Azure AD would be helpful.

I'm not sure if there are any out-of-the box features for this. Perhaps, you can extend this via this community broker.

Did you ever figure out how to do this??  This would come in extremely helpful for some enhancements I was thinking about making to an application.
