You can do that by using expressions in your workflow.

I don't seem to have access to Operator expressions in workflows. Yet I do in Smartforms.

You don't have access in that they don't appear? Or they appear but give you a security error when you try to use them?

In the workflow designer the function for doing mathematical expressions is called the "Formula" function.
