Summary:

I am installing Nintex Workflow and I created a config and content database, one each. However, after creating the content database, even the config database I created is listed under the content database section - is something wrong?

Product:

All Workflow for SharePoint on-premises

Answer/Solution:

You have actually created two databases but a config database can always be used as a content database.  The config database will never be particularly big so it is often used as well as the content database to help spread the load.    With respect to how many databases to provision, Workflow data is partitioned across the Nintex workflow databases based on site collection. All data associated with a single site collection will be in the same database.
